Penn State announces waivers to support students at closing campuses

December 11, 2025 -- Penn State is implementing new measures in support of students at the Commonwealth Campuses scheduled to close after the spring 2027 semester, including waiving both the tuition surcharge for course loads above 19 credits and the student-initiated fee.

Susan Welch Liberal Arts Building Classroom Reassignments for Fall 2025

November 13, 2025 -- The Susan Welch Liberal Arts Building will remain closed for the remainder of the fall 2025 semester. Classes that were scheduled in rooms 114, 115, and 117 of the Welch Building have been relocated to a new classroom effective November 17th.

New and updated instructional modes to be implemented for fall 2026

November 5, 2025 -- Penn State will implement one new instructional mode and update four others for the fall 2026 semester.

Fall 2025 commencement at University Park to take place Sunday, Dec. 21

March 5, 2025 -- Due to a potential conflict with a large-scale event on the University Park campus, Penn State is shifting the date of its fall 2024 commencement ceremonies to Sunday, Dec. 22.

February 13, 2025 -- Instructions for ordering Spring 2025 end-of-semester transcripts are now available.

Fall 2024 end-of-semester transcript order deadline

October 3, 2024 -- Transcript orders with a processing time of "Hold for Grades" and "Hold for Degree" for Fall 2024 must be received by 11:59 p.m. on December 20, 2024.

Fall 2024 University Park commencement date to be shifted

April 16, 2024 -- Due to a potential conflict with a large-scale event on the University Park campus, Penn State is shifting the date of its fall 2024 commencement ceremonies to Sunday, Dec. 22.

LionPATH updates 'Class Search' feature for students

January 31, 2024 -- The LionPATH Development and Maintenance Organization (LDMO), in partnership with the Office of the University Registrar (OUR), has developed a new "Class Search" available in the LionPATH Student Home Base beginning Feb. 1.

Summer course registration opens Feb. 2 for undergraduates

January 26, 2024 -- Registration for summer 2024 courses at all Penn State campuses will open on Friday, Feb. 2. Students can choose from thousands of summer courses at 20 Penn State campuses or online through World Campus.

Penn State launches AI-powered chatbot to assist students around the clock

January 23, 2024 -- LionChat's current knowledge base is well-equipped to answer questions related to admissions processes, next steps, dates and deadlines, as well as frequently asked questions received by the Office of Student Aid, Office of the Bursar and Office of the University Registrar about scholarships, transcripts, tuition costs, billing, degree planning, grades, final exams and more.

Transcript ordering during Winter Break

December 14, 2023 -- The Office of the University Registrar will close for the Winter Break at 4:30 p.m. (EST) on December 21, 2023. Many transcript orders placed via Parchment will be fulfilled automatically, but paper transcript orders, and any orders requiring manual review by Registrar staff, will be processed in the order received when the University reopens on January 2, 2024.

November 14, 2023 -- Transcript orders with a processing time of "Hold for Grades" and "Hold for Degree" for Fall 2023 must be received by 11:59 p.m. on December 15, 2023.

New LionPATH option indicates courses with free or low-cost required texts

September 21, 2023 -- A new search option added to LionPATH, Penn State's student information system, for Spring 2024 indicates that a course section's required texts costs are free or low-cost, or under $50.

Tuition surcharge to begin in fall 2023 for undergraduates who exceed 19 credits

July 27, 2023 -- Beginning in fall 2023, undergraduate students will incur additional tuition charges when their class schedule exceeds 19 credits per semester.

Undergraduate students can now request grade forgiveness via LionPATH

July 11, 2023 -- As part of the continuing effort to modernize University processes, students can now submit a request for grade forgiveness directly in LionPATH.

June 23, 2023 -- Transcript orders with a processing time of "Hold for Grades" and "Hold for Degree" for Summer 2023 must be received by 11:59 p.m. on August 11, 2023.

LionPATH Update Academics to be unavailable at end of spring 2023 semester

April 28, 2023 -- The LionPATH Update Academics tool will be unavailable from 5:00 p.m. (ET) on May 5, 2023 through May 11, 2023. If you have extenuating circumstances during that time, please contact the appropriate academic department during their regular business hours.
